The training process, grading scale and graduation conditions are implemented in accordance with the Regulation of full-time university and college training under the credit system, attached to decicion No. 43/2007/QD-BGD&DT and concretized by Decision No. 756/QD-DT August 21, 2013 of the Rector of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry.

Training engineers of crop science with professional qualifications, competent workmanship skills, serious working attitude and professional ethics, good health, the ability to cooperate and manage resources, suitable adaptability for a variety of jobs in scientific institutions, production management, businesses or self-employment production and crop science services.

1.1. General knowledge: Knowledge of the basic principles of Marxism-Leninism, the revolutionary line of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh's thought.

7. Brief description of the content and volume of courses
7.1. Fundamental Principles of Marxism and Leninism (FP1)– 2 credits
Course description: Establishing the most basic theoretical basis from which to access the course's content such as: Basic principles of Marxism-Leninism (II), Ho Chi Minh’s Ideology and Revolutionary Orientation and Policies of Vietnamese Communist Party, understanding the ideological foundation of the Party; Building trust, revolutionary ideals for students; To gradually establish the most common worldview, human perspective and methodology to approach the trained specialized sciences.
7.2. Fundamental Principles of Marxism and Leninism (FPII) – 3 credits
Course description: Establishing the most basic theoretical basis from which to access the course's content such as: Basic principles of Marxism-Leninism (II), Ho Chi Minh’s Ideology and Revolutionary Orientation and Policies of Vietnamese Communist Party, understanding the ideological foundation of the Party; Building trust, revolutionary ideals for students; To gradually establish the most common worldview, human perspective and methodology to approach the trained specialized sciences.
7.3. Ho Chi Minh’s Ideology - 2 credits
Course description: This course provides a system of views and idea ideology of Ho Chi Minh in the revolutionary career summarized and systematized by the Communist Party of Vietnam. This ideological system includes views on basic issues of the Vietnamese revolution, from the people's democratic national revolution to the socialist revolution; applying and developing Marxism-Leninism in the specific conditions of Vietnam. After completing this course, learners will raise their awareness of regularly training, cultivating, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example and style to increasingly improve themselves and contribute to building country.
7.4. Revolutionary Orientation and Policies of Vietnamese Communist Party – 3 credits
Course description: Learners know and understand the views and revolutionary Orientation and Policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam in a basic and systematic way. Students apply and combine specialized knowledge to actively and actively solve economic, political, cultural and social problems according to the guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and State.
7.5. Chemistry – 3 credits
The Chemistry course consists of 6 chapters, including 50 theory hours and 10 practical hours. The theoretical part equips students with basic knowledge about stoichiometry, factors affecting chemical balance; applying the interpretation of the transition of reversible reactions; reaction rate and influencing factors. At the same time, it provides basic concepts and basic knowledge about solutions. Research on composition and content of surveyed samples: qualitative and quantitative analysis, determination of structure, evaluation of results and product quality, separation, division, cleaning, preparation of compounds super pure…etc.
The practical part equips students with some basic rules in the laboratory; studying experiments on the influence of factors on chemical balance, reaction rate, interpretation and application in practice; practicing to determin the pH value of some common solutions; Researching on titration experiments, determining the content of analytical samples.
7.6. Biology – 3 credits
1. Theoretical part: Biology is a compulsory course of basic knowledge for first-year students at University of Agricultrure and Forestry - Thai Nguyen University. It equips students with basic knowledge of life sciences: From biological macromolecules: Proteins, Lipids, Glucose, Nucleic Acid... to higher levels of organization of life: cells, tissues, organs, bodies. Besides, it also equips students with knowledge about the processes and basic characteristics of a living organism: metabolism, reproduction, growth and development, induction and adaptation. Biology also provides a holistic view of the evolution of all living things on earth, the general evolution of plants and animals, evolutionary theories, evolutionary evidence, and the pathways of formation into a new species.
In addition, the Biology course also equips students with knowledge about the application of Biology in the fields of expertise for the Crop Science major:
Application of biology in selection, breeding and propagation of genetically modified plants.
Application of bio-products in the prevention of plant pests and diseases, production of bio-organic fertilizers, microbial organic fertilizers, soil improvement, plant protection drugs, treatment of agricultural products...
2. Practical part: The practical exercises in the Biology course guide learners on the method of using a microscope, the method of making a specimen to observe. At the same time, students can directly observe some types of cells, internal structures of cells, structures of reproductive organs of organisms.
7.7. General Sociology - 2 credits
General Sociology is a compulsory course in order to systematically equip students with basic knowledge of sociology, including: objects, functions, and research tasks of sociology; basic sociological concepts. On the basis of these basic concepts, students can understand the relationships between individuals, groups and society; position and role of individuals, social groups, institutions, social organizations, social classes and classes in a society. On the basis of that knowledge, this course also educates students on sociology professional ethics in the present construction of our country.
7.8. Physics - 2 credits
The Physics course consists of 5 chapters with 17 theory hours and 13 exercises and discussions. Theory part equips students with general understanding of mechanics, basic motions associated with practice, and fundamental laws of Newton; concepts and common phenomena in fluid mechanics, analyze important applications of fluid mechanics in agriculture and forestry; equipping with basic knowledge of electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic waves and their application in the fields of agriculture and forestry; provide some knowledge about optical wave, photoquantity, photogenic processes; Basic knowledge of nuclear physics and the use of some nuclear techniques in Food Technology. Exercises and discussions: requiring students to apply the knowledge which they have learned in each chapter to solve practical problems: explain phenomena, applying learned knowledge to the right major.
7.9. Advanced Mathematics - 2 credits
The Advanced Mathematics course consists of 3 chapters with 17 theory hours and 13 discussion hours. Theory part equips the concepts of matrices, operations on matrices, application of matrices in practical problems; system of linear equations (PTTT), how to solve the system of PTTT; differential equations (PTVP), types of differential equations and some applications of differential equations; some optimal mathematical forms in agriculture and forestry and methods of solving optimization problems. Discussion part requires students to apply the methods they have learned to solve problems, especially proficiently using software (Excel) on the computer to solve problems on matrices, mathematical systems and superior mathematical problems.
Equipping basic calculation skills, practice analytical skills, mathematical modeling of some practical problems such as: Business and production management problems; The problem of animal feed rations; The problem of calculating residual chemical content in the environment and food; Optimization problems in agriculture and forestry. Equiping students with some math solving software, from which students apply to solve math problems in the module and apply in real problems.
7.10. Enghlish 1- 3 credits
This course equips with basic and core knowledge about Grammar (sentence structure, verb tense...), Phonetics (stress & intonation), and Vocabulary (words & word structure); Consolidating the basic phenomena of Grammar, Phonetics and Vocabulary mentioned above as a basis for practice in communication; Initial formation of language communication skills such as Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing on the basis of a firm grasp of theory and proficient practice; Basic concepts of the interdisciplinary relationship between Language, Culture and speech act.
Grammar: present simple tense; simple past tense; the present continuous tense; past continuous tense; Like/would like; modal verbs; comparative levels of adjectives.
Vocabulary: Verb phrases for daily activities and leisure time; adjective; expressions of time in the present and in the past; words describing feelings, states; mean of transportation.
Reading comprehension: health; sport; mean of transportation; explore.
Listening: health; sport; mean of transportation; explore.
Speaking: ambition; telling stories.
Writing: linking words; report; story happened.
Pronunciation: sound /s/, /z/, /iz /, /d/, /t/, /id/, /ƞ/.

7.11. Einglish 2 - 3 credits
This course equips with basic and core knowledge about Grammar (sentence structure, verb tense...), Phonetics (stress & intonation), and Vocabulary (words & word structure); Consolidating the basic phenomena of Grammar, Phonetics and Vocabulary mentioned above as a basis for practice in communication; Initial formation of language communication skills such as Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing on the basis of a firm grasp of theory and proficient practice; Basic concepts of the interdisciplinary relationship between Language, Culture and speech act.
Grammar: countable and uncountable nouns; quantity words, articles; future tense with be going to, will; the present continuous refers to the near future; prepositions of place; present perfect; relative clauses and type 1 conditional sentences.
Vocabulary: word for material; linking words; synonym; occupation words; suffixes; prefix.
Reading comprehension: environment; life; events; Workplace; explore.
Listening: environment; plans and intentions; job interview; the importance of technology; new invention.
Speaking: present the report; interview.

7.13. General Informatics - 3 credits
The course provides knowledge about computers and computer networks, skills in using basic informatics applications. After completing this course, students will be able to: Proficiently use computers; operate on Windows operating system and some application programs; know how to manage and exploit information on computers effectively, use computers safely and have understanding of the law in using information technology; Fluently use Microsoft Word to compose and present a complete document according to the template, use a number of auxiliary tools to process documents faster; Use Microsoft Excel to build a complete database to solve real-world problems; Use calculation functions in Excel from basic to complex to calculate, make statistics, extract and filter necessary information; Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create an engaging and effective presentation; Know how to exploit and connect information available on the Internet to serve learning and research; know how to use email to send and receive documents.
7.14. Statistical Probability – 3 credits
Distribution of study time: 3 credits (45 theory periods/0 practical lessons/90 self-study periods)
Summary of course content: The Statistical Probability module consists of 2 parts: Probability and statistics with 27 theory hours and 18 discussion hours. Theory part: Equipping knowledge about trials, events, probability of events; random variables (BNN), probability distribution rules and characteristic parameters of BNN; population, sample, typical parameters of the sample and calculation method; parameter estimation; parameter testing; correlation and regression.
